The following problem often arises in backup solutions that are independent of the hardware and software: While taking a new backup, each time the user has to enter all the essential options and parameters again. This increases the risk of making an incorrect entry what can be easily explained from the technical point of view: Since the backup program is started from the CD (or the USB stick), it has initially no information about the backup to be taken and the way, in which the backup should be taken.
The DeviceImage Boot&Save technology overcomes this difficulty in an elegant fashion. The user needs to specify the backup process only once. All the essential information is stored in an Autotask file on a local hard disk. For the further routine backups, the user only needs to carry out a minimum number of operations: Insert the DeviceImage Autoclient CD in the CD drive and restart the computer.
After the computer boots, the DeviceImage software is started. DeviceImage automatically finds the previously saved Autotask file. Then, all the required information is read-out from the Autotask file, checked and compared. If everything is OK and there are no irregularities, the backup process is started immediately and executed.
This method is particularly simple and relieving for the user, since very little time is required to start the backup process and previous knowledge about the settings parameters and options is not necessary. Thus, a safe procedure during the backup operation is guaranteed.
